From The Client

So how did we do?

What was the challenge you were trying to solve when you came to us?

We wanted to provide not only customers but also staff with a small seasonal gesture in the lead up to Christmas, we knew this wouldn’t be used as a lead generation or brand building exercise as such but just a thank you to everyone for their custom and hard work over a busy time of the year.

Why did you choose branded merchandise as part of your solution?

The calendars went down really well with staff, with extras being given to those who had young children. As this was something that we hadn’t done before it was a nice additional touch. The customers who received the calendars when visiting the design centres really appreciated the thought, again particularly those who had young families as perhaps a window showroom isn’t where those children would want to be during the festive period so to give them a gift at that time of year definitely put a smile on their face.

How did your team or clients react to the merchandise? Any standout moments or feedback?

An advent calendar is something that will sit in a prominent position either in the office or at home for 25 days (unless you can’t resist opening all at once) so we thought that if we are going to give everyone an advent calendar this Christmas then why not have a message of seasons greetings from Joedan on the front.

What changed after using it? Did it help with brand awareness, engagement, or something else?

We never really intended this to be used as a sales tool, but of course there is always going to be an element of that whenever you hand out something that is company branded. I would say that it had an impact of increasing brand awareness within the area.

If you had to sum up the impact in one sentence, what would it be?

We wanted to provide not only customers but also staff with a small seasonal gesture in the lead up to Christmas, we knew this wouldn’t be used as a lead generation or brand building exercise as such but just a thank you to everyone for their custom and hard work over a busy time of the year.

Bonus Question: If another business was considering branded merchandise, what advice would you give them based on your experience?

The M&M Approach

We didn’t start with products. We started with people.

We looked at who the merchandise was for, where it would be used and what [Client] wanted the campaign to achieve. From there, we could narrow thousands of possible products down to a considered mix that made sense for the audience, budget and brand.
